He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
Matthew 25:24-28
For background, I think it’s important to note that 1 talent is equivalent to around $1.4 million today.
As the famous parable goes, God not only desires for us to be rich but, in fact, he DEMANDS it.
There is often significant guilt attached to success or abundance of wealth, maybe rightly so – the rich can do a lot more to help others. However, I think the hate should be redirected to those who in fear of failure, bury their blessings or pass up their opportunities and return them intact.
It is often in our nature to blame our lack of effort on the fact that we do not have much. “If I had more, I would do more” we often say. Just like the servant, that will only lead us to even greater loss when whatever little we had is given to those that did more with more.
For it is also a biblical truth – Luke 16:10-12 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?”
I believe the so-called hoarders of wealth at the top are less to blame for poverty. The true fault lies with those of that fail to pursue the most with the little we have been given. The fault lies with those of us who achieve a comfort and stop seeking more. For once again God speaks directly to us in Psalm 2:8 – “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.”
The strides of abhorrently wealthy men are responsible for the decent welfares of millions of people employed under them. The failure of us to chase our own BAG💰, denies our brothers and sisters the opportunity of feeding from our fruits. For we are blessed so we can be a blessing. The solution lies with us! LET’S HUSTLE. LET’S RISK. LET’S GET IT 💸💰💳💷💶
