The Retrospective Future

Often, we look into the future as endless possibilities yet to happen. These possibilities allow us to dream and hope. Although sometimes, the bliss is blinding.

Imagining laying in rosey gardens, we often forget the thorns those roses possess.

The future also often encompasses a lot of anxieties and pressures. Decisions that need to be or have already been made that carry a load so large and that we are often scared to attach to ourselves. These loads often lead to the ache that is indecisiveness.

In my deliberation, I came up with a challenge that I implore you to try

What if we looked at the future as a set of decisions that have already happened?

In a world where change is sudden, might this allow our plans to sharpen?

We often see ourselves as the A-team, but do we always have a plan B?

In every decision there is an alternative which we can regret. If we can envision the weight of what we sacrifice, maybe then our future can be great

Look to the future as the past that’s yet to happen because life is not a game of endless possibilities. It is a set of decisions where we often shape our own existence.

A few extra thoughts (Quotes) by me:

• Achievement is directly proportionate to the sacrifice

• A plan is only as good as its executor

• The future is bright, it’s our ability to see it that varies

• A decision made is a victory won.

• Commitment eliminates regret

Happy new year! 🥳
